Meet the SIBN Steering Group

This is the current SIBN steering group. We meet on a monthly basis and are always ready to receive new ideas for events, activities etc so please feel free to contact us via admin@sibn.es at any time. Steering group members can also be contacted directly via the SIBN group on Linkedin.

Helen Cunningham is from Galway and has been living in Madrid since 1994. She works at Amadeus, the travel technology company, as Head of Marketing for the company’s global hotel division. Helen holds a BA in International Marketing & Languages from Dublin City University and a Masters in Corporate Communications from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. She has been involved in SIBN activities since 2011 and is currently President.

Marie O’Sullivan has lived and worked in Spain for almost 20 years, first in the Educational sector and for the last 16 years in the Fund Management industry in Madrid. She is currently Head of Fund Groups Iberia and Latam at AllfundsBank. Prior to this role she worked at Credit Suisse Asset Management in Madrid. Marie holds a BA in Spanish and Economics and an MA in Hispanic Studies from University College Cork. She has been involved in the SIBN since 2011 and is currently Vice-President.

Gearoid Dunne has worked in Spain for over 6 years in the FMCG sector and is currently Commercial Director with Dawn Meats Iberia. Prior to this, he worked with Galtee and Dairygold in many European roles, formerly based in Holland, France & Italy. He is a past graduate of The College of Marketing & Design, Dublin.

Maria Gomez is the Global Events Project Manager at Amadeus IT Group and she has a wide range of international experience in different sectors in the Tourism and Hospitality industries.

Colin Murphy has lived in Madrid since 2005 and has also worked in Ireland, England and the USA. He has degrees from the University of Limerick and the Smurfit Graduate School of Business in Dublin. Since 2007 he has been a full time real estate investor and runs a successful property business from bases in Madrid & Florida. Colin manages the social media platforms and general communications for the SIBN.

Elizabeth Aston is a Senior Advisor for Industry Affairs at Amadeus and manages strategic initiatives at a government and institutional level.

Conor O´Dwyer works for Enterprise Ireland and is responsible for the promotion and development of Irish trade and technology into Iberia. His focus is on generating buyer introductions for client companies from multiple sectors, organizing trade fair participation of Irish companies and organization of trade events and trade missions between Spain and Ireland.

Tomás Sercovich is the External Relations Director at FORETICA with a focus on international partnerships and projects, government relations and Latin America business development.

Paul Tighe is an Irish chartered accountant working at KPMG in Madrid since 2004.  He advises on M&A and restructurings. Paul is from Galway and is a graduate of University of Limerick (Business Studies and French, class of 1997). Prior to Madrid, he worked in KPMG in Dublin for 7 years.

Raul Marigota works for Enterprise Ireland and is and experienced telecommunications and technology business development market adviser. He is constantly analyzing and reporting on market trends and developments for dynamic technology companies who want explore business opportunities inSouthern Europe. Middle East and Africa (SEMEA) region.

Joe Haslam is the Chairman and co-founder of Hot Hotels, Europe´s largest same day only hotel booking App. At IE Business School, he is the Executive Director of the Owners & Entrepreneurs Management Program and teaches as an Associate Professor in the the MBA program. He has experience in the Enterprise Software, Video Games and Online Security fields. Joe is from Limerick, is a graduate of University College Cork and won an Iberian Championship medal with the Madrid Harps GAA club in 2008.

Emma Naismith has lived in Madrid for 15 years and has also worked in Ireland, the UK, Latin America, Australia and the US. She has a degree in Marketing & Languages, a Masters in International Business and 15 years international marketing and business development experience. Emma is Trinity Alumni officer for Spain. Emma works with Kanchi and Asavie Technologies.

Ralph Smith is International Counsel and member of the advisory board at the law firm Gómez-Acebo & Pombo. After studying Chemical Engineering at Cambridge and a spell in industry, he worked for 11 years in the legal profession in the UK before moving to his present post in 1998 and has been an enthusiastic supporter of the SIBN since its founding.

Guillermo Prieto works for Oracle and has over 10 years experience in Information Systems. He specialises in developing and presenting adapted SaaS solutions that address Midsize (up to $500M revenues) and Enterprise (+$500M) companies, and Hospitals, Universities, Ministries and Regional Governments’ organisational needs

Carlos Burgos lives in Valladolid and is the Managing Director of Creaclick (Creativity & Internet) and also the Present of Hispano Irish, an association which promotes historical, cultural and social links between Spain & Ireland.

Oscar Hernanz is a Sustainable Development Consultant (expert on Photovoltaic Solar System, Electrification of transport and Biomass). He has worked for 8 years in the Research Centre for Energy, Environment and Technology (CIEMAT). He has also written papers about Irish Community in Madrid during XVII-XVIII century.
